A second North Fulton city has pulled the plug on a planned Nov. 3 municipal election, saving taxpayers there thousands of dollars.

The city of Milton cancelled the vote after only one candidate qualified for each of three city council seats earlier this month. They were: Burt Hewitt for District 1/Post 2, Matt Kunz for District 2 /Post 2, and Rick Mohrig for District 3/Post 2. All three are incumbents.

City spokeswoman Angela Thompson said the budgeted amount for the election had been $52,522.80, but said that out of that, the city will still pay for the preliminary cost of voter registration cards that were sent out, plus some other expenses.

The city of Alpharetta last week scrubbed its planned Nov. 3 mayoral and council election for the same reason.
