A top ally of Gov. Nathan Deal will serve as Tim Pawlenty’s Georgia finance chair in the race for the GOP nomination for president.

Tricia Pridemore will lead fund raising efforts here for the former governor of Minnesota. Pridemore was Deal’s chosen candidate to be the state GOP chair, but Pridemore lost to incumbent Sue Everhart.

Deal is supporting former Georgia congressman Newt Gingrich for president. Former Gov. Sonny Perdue had been backing deal but recently switched his allegiance to Pawlenty.
