After a long illness, High Museum of Art curator of media arts Linda Dubler passed away Thursdayof myelofibrosis, a bone marrow disorder.

Dubler worked industriously since 1985 to connect Atlantans with world cinema from countries such as China and Iran that otherwise would not have been represented on the city's commercial screens. In the process, she built early bridges between the High and the metro area's growing international communities.

Dubler's legacies include the Latin American Film Festival, which marked its 25th anniversary last fall.cq 2010 Before joining the High, she served as program and festival director of IMAGE Film and Video Center, helping guide the Atlanta Film Festival in its early years. HOWARD POUSNER

Gov. Nathan Deal has named Corinna Magelund as the ombudsman for the Governor's Office of Disability Services.

Magelund, of Atlanta, has been involved with the Chastain Horseback Therapeutic Riding Program and has worked in the Department of Community Affairs. As ombudsman, Magelund will promote the safety and rights of individuals with mental and development disabilities and be an advocate for the behavioral health and developmental disability community. Four Georgia athletes head to Greece today to compete in the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games. About with 7,500 athletes from 185 nations are participating from June 25 to July 4.

Daniel Hester of Forsyth County and Chris Currere of Fulton County will compete in powerlifting. Erin Hoffman of Fulton County and Paul Partus of Cobb County will compete in aquatics.
