Tuesday is the deadline for taxpayers in Fulton County who want to appeal the county tax assessment of their property if they did not receive a corrected assessment in the mail.
Earlier this year, the county sent out notices that contained incomplete and erroneous information to about 240,000 owners and later sent them a corrected notice. Those taxpayers have until July 26 to file their appeals. STEVE VISSER

The National Alliance for Public Charter Schools will recognize former President Bill Clinton with a lifetime achievement award during their Atlanta convention.
Officials said Clinton will be honored for nearly twenty years of charter school support.
According to the alliance, when Clinton was elected there was only one charter school open and by the time his administration left office, there were over 1,700 nationwide.
Clinton is scheduled to speak at the 2011 National Charter Schools Conference on June 21 at the Georgia World Congress Center. D.AILEEN DODD

The European Union has called for Georgia to commute the death sentence of Troy Anthony Davis, who sits on death row for the killing of an off-duty Savannah police officer in 1989.
In a recent statement, High Representative Catherine Ashton said there are “serious and compelling doubts” about Davis’ culpability in light of the recantations of a number of witnesses who testified for the prosecution at trial. Ashton also reaffirmed the EU’s longstanding opposition to capital punishment. BILL RANKIN
