The search committee for the University System of Georgia's next chancellor has finished interviewing candidates and has provided recommendations to the State Board of Regents, a committee member said Monday.
The regents will interview three candidates from the pool in mid-April, said Susan Herbst, the system's chief academic officer.
The regents will select up to three finalists and release their names. The board is required to wait 14 days after announcing finalists to vote on the hire.
Chancellor Erroll Davis will retire at the end of June. LAURA DIAMOND

One of the U.S. Marshal's "Most Wanted" fugitives, Jessica Rene Tata was arrested in Georgia and agreed to return to Texas to face manslaughter and other charges at a hearing before Fulton County magistrate Richard Hicks Monday. Authorities said the 22-year-old woman fled to Nigeria after a fire killed four children at her Houston day-care operation when she left them unsupervised while grocery shopping on Feb. 24. She flew into Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport after her family said she turned herself in to the U.S. Consulate in Nigeria.
