Three men were found guilty of murder in a 2002 home invasion, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.

A Fulton County jury Friday night convicted Demetreus Brewer, 32; James McDowell, 34; and Loyd Stephens, 41, for the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Eric Kemp.

Kemp, whose Simpson Road home was also used for a business known as The House of Bass, was found on his pool table in a pool of blood on Oct. 25, 2002, authorities said. He had been shot multiple times. Police believe he was killed during an attempted robbery.

Witnesses told police they saw several people fleeing the scene. Two days later, two suspects in the crime were found fatally shot, officials said. Three others remained at large, and after years of investigation, arrest warrants were issued for Brewer, McDowell and Stephens in August 2011.

Brewer and McDowell were sentenced to life in prison without parole Friday. Stephens, who faces the same punishment, will be sentenced Monday.

Stephens and McDowell also face charges for a 2006 homicide in Fulton County and a 2008 killing in DeKalb County.
