Forsyth County residents can see and comment on proposed residential design standards for the southeast part of the county at an open house Wednesday, Nov. 14.

The meeting is 6 to 8 p.m. in the Forsyth County Administration Building, 110 E. Main St., Cumming. County commissioners have identified southeast Forsyth “as needing additional design standards to help maintain high-quality residential development,” said Vanessa Bernstein-Goldman, deputy director of planning and community development.

Applicable areas, officials said, include those described in the Forsyth County Comprehensive Plan: Big Creek, Haw Creek/Daves Creek, McFarland (east of Ga. 400), and South Georgia 400 (east of Ga. 400).

"Design standards under consideration include exterior materials, windows, building orientation to street, building disposition on lot, parking configuration, site design, connectivity and walkability, landscaping, common areas, lighting, subdivision signage and accessory structures," according to a county announcement.
