The planned upgrade and expansion of the Big Creek Water Reclamation Facility in Roswell is the subject of a public meeting set for 6 to 8 p.m. March 29.
The Fulton County Department of Public Works will conduct the meeting at the Chattahoochee Nature Center, 9135 Willeo Road, Roswell. The county will provide an overview of the scope, timeline and benefits of the expansion and hear community input, officials said.
Fulton recently awarded a design-build contract to expand the facility’s capacity from 24 million gallons to 38 million gallons a day to meet future wastewater treatment demands and to eliminate odors, officials said.
The facility was built in 1971 and has been expanded several times since then. It serves the Big Creek Watershed including the North Fulton cities of Alpharetta and Roswell and parts of Milton and Johns Creek, and areas of Cobb and Forsyth counties. Treated water discharges to the Chattahoochee River.
The latest expansion is to be started in 2019 and completed in 2023. Information: https://bit.ly/EstqLS
