Gwinnett Department of Transportation will host a public information open house regarding the Jimmy Carter Blvd. at Buford Highway Intersection Improvement Project 4 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 3, at Best Friend Park Activity Center, 6224 Jimmy Carter Blvd. in Norcross.

The Gwinnett Community Improvement District has studied numerous configurations for improving the intersection. The county is currently evaluating proposed designs.

Among solutions being considered is a Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI) developed by Gresham, Smith and Partners. The project proposes to construct a two-legged continuous flow intersection on Buford Highway at the intersection with Jimmy Carter Boulevard. The CFI would provide dual left turn lanes offset from the through lanes on the east and west legs of Buford Highway so left turn movements could occur simultaneously with the mainline through.
