McDonough council convenes first meeting of 2020

After swearing in three returning council members upon their recent re-election, the McDonough City Council voted at its Jan. 2 regular meeting to appoint Craig Elrod mayor pro tem for 2020.

The council also approved a contract with outgoing city administrator Keith Dickerson to continue negotiations on behalf of the city with Henry County on its service delivery strategy. Several appointments were approved for the city’s Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals and Historic Preservation Commission. Approval of a contract between the city and Digital Map Products for the GIS mapping system at an annual cost of not to exceed $15,500, paid from the general fund.

An amendment to the current sanitation contract will add pick-up collection services, free of charge, at the city’s wastewater treatment plant and at Iris Lake Road-Rose Cemetery.
