The McDonough City Council voted May 21 to approve an annexation and rezoning which paves the way for the next phase of a large industrial project on the south side of the city.

The parcel of just over 81 acres sits on the east side of Hwy. 42 a short distance south of that road’s intersection with Hwy. 155. The land is south of the Carrington Green and City Square developments but it also contiguous with those, making the annexation possible. The proposed building on the site will be about 728,000 square feet.

The applicant told the council that the building will be very considerably high-tech and automated but will still bring 100-300 jobs. He added that the plan represents a $35 million capital investment.
