Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed is racking up the frequent flyer miles.

The mayor will make his second trip to Paris since taking office for the New Cities Summit, a global gathering on urban development.

The summit brings together urban planners, architects, business leaders, academics and politicians to discuss “innovative” approaches to issues of city planning, according to a news release. A spokeswoman for the mayor said the trip comes at no cost to taxpayers.

The trip follows a recent nine-day economic development mission Reed held with business leaders in China.

Reed will be in France beginning Sunday and return Thursday, according to the office of the Consulate General of France in Atlanta.

Last year, Reed attended a forum on airports and the city and counterparts in Paris made a pact to jointly promote both cities’ airports for economic development.
