Mayor Pro Tem: No overlap on Avondale map

Avondale Estates’ updated annexation master plan nearly doubles the city’s size, but Mayor Pro Tem Terry Giager said that “as far as I know” there’s no overlap with any existing or newly proposed city. Avondale was originally scheduled to vote on its map Dec. 17, but has now moved it back to sometime in January. “I was told by different government officials the delay wouldn’t hurt us,” Giager said, adding that the map could change between now and then. Giager also said he believes that all the residential districts included on the new map favor coming into Avondale, with exception of Decatur Terrace, which still wants into Decatur.
