Lawrenceville Mayor Judy Jordan Johnson noted a strong financial position with a three-month reserve in the event of natural disaster among the city’s accomplishments in her State of the City Address Monday night.

Among other successes, Johnson highlighted the city’s ability to reduce the tax rate from 2.16 mils to 2.06 mils, opening of the Lawrenceville Lawn and strengthening of the downtown core through economic development. The city hired a code enforcement agency to address violations, established a Gateway Corridor committee and constructed new sidewalks as part of the Safe Routes to School program.

Under challenges for the coming year, Johnson noted natural gas supply improvement, a new sanitation service rate structure, stormwater infrastructure and healthcare costs as priorities.
