Marietta High School Principal Forrestella Taylor is designated to become the district administrator for Accountability and Program Support for Marietta City Schools in a newly created position, beginning July 1.

However, many parents from the school expressed their concern about her removal as principal by wearing white shirts Tuesday since no public comments were allowed during this work session of the Marietta Board of Education, according to a WSB-TV report.

The time for public comment is 7 p.m. Tuesday during the regular board meeting at 250 Howard St., Marietta.

Limited to five minutes each, those wishing to address the board must inform Marietta City Schools Superintendent Emily Lembeck in writing by 7 p.m. Monday.

In this new position, Taylor will “provide oversight in our accountability practices,” Lembeck said in a statement, because of “the increase of district requirements from the Georgia Department of Education.”

Before her position as principal of Marietta High School, Taylor was the principal of Marietta Middle School for two years and the ninth grade assistant principal at Marietta High from 2011 to 2013.
