The Marietta Police Department has expanded its Meet, Screen, Exchange Program by pairing with SafeTrade.
SafeTrade teams with local law enforcement agencies around the nation to ensure that users can feel comfortable when meeting a potential buyer or seller.
The MPD has been placed on the list of “safe stations” by SafeTrade to help ensure a safe environment for all parties involved in online transactions.
A SafeTrade banner also has been placed in the front windows of the MPD at 240 Lemon St. to emphasize the station’s commitment to providing a safe environment for everyone.
While the police department will not become involved in transactions, if requested, officers will screen items to ensure they are not stolen.
There are no fees for the Meet, Screen, Exchange Program services; and the MPD building and parking lot are available anytime, day or night.
This program was developed in response to a growing trend of crimes committed against those looking to do business through online portals.
