The Marietta Police Department announced recently that it is among three percent of all law enforcement agencies in the nation to receive national accreditation.

The department received its re-accreditation from the Commission for the Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies at a conference in Charleston, S.C.

As a prerequisite to the hearing, the MPD underwent an on-site inspection and audit in August when CALEA inspectors prepared a comprehensive report on their findings. The department was commended for its Pastor’s Police Academy Program, the Citizens Bill of Rights for Police Accountability and the MPD accreditation team led by Officer Terry Wardlaw.
