Three public hearings will be held by the Marietta City Council to receive comments on its plan to increase property tax rates by 7.52 percent - though keeping the same rate of 2.788 mills.
The hearings will be held at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. July 10 and 9 a.m. July 17 in the Council Chambers, Marietta City Hall, 205 Lawrence St., Marietta - in compliance with the Georgia Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights.
For the 2019 fiscal year from July 1 to June 30, 2019, the Council budgeted $317.7 million, including $59.7 million for the general fund budget.
The Council adopted a balanced budget on June 13 without raising taxes, establishing new fees or including service reductions, according to a city statement.
