The Johns Creek Public Safety Foundation has bought 49 additional training and practice manikins for the Johns Creek Fire Department, allowing larger classes in life-saving training.

The Fire Department conducts quarterly cardiopulmonary resuscitation/automated external defibrillator classes for the community, but has had to limit attendance to 40 individuals, officials said. The donation of additional manikins will expand the group and allow each student his or her own manikin for maximum practice time.

The $3,200 manikin purchase was made possible by a donation from ValMark Financial Group.

“We know that this gift has the potential to save lives as starting CPR before the arrival of emergency personnel, and the use of AED machines, can increase the chance of survival,” said Fire Chief Jeff Hogan.

The safety foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that assists Johns Creek firefighters and police officers injured in the line of duty, and supports community outreach such as the CPR/AED certification classes, officials said.
