Atlanta Police said a man found dead near a Phipps Plaza Saturday afternoon may have fallen  from a third-level parking deck.

Initially police reported that the man, whose name has not been released, was shot.

According to an e-mailed update from police, there were "no witnesses to any shooting and no shots were heard at this time."

APD said it suspects the man's death was accidental.

Phipps Plaza said in a statement, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the deceased."

The mall's spokeswoman declined to comment further because matter is an on-going police investigation.

The scene has been turned over to the Fulton County Medical Examiners Office, APD spokesman Kim Jones said.
