Police Thursday were investigating the shooting of a man found dead just inside the front door of a home in northwest Atlanta.

The shooting happened in the 700 block of south Grand Avenue, almost within sight of the Atlanta police Zone 1 precinct on Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway.

Atlanta police Capt. Tim Peek told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that officers responding to a 3 a.m. person shot call found the victim just inside the home with a gunshot wound to the head.

Peek said the man, who appeared to be in his late-20s to early 30s, has not been identified.

Police have not determined a motive for the shooting, Peek said.
