After being shot in the chest in his home, a 38-year-old Atlanta man went outside and tried to get help. But he collapsed and died on a neighbor's driveway, where he was found face down, Atlanta police said Sunday night.

A neighbor called police shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday after seeing David C. Atkins in the yard, Officer James Polite said.

The incident happened in the 200 block of West Lake Drive in northwest Atlanta, police said.

Police are looking for the victim's roommate in connection with the shooting, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The investigation is continuing, police said.
