A man was killed Tuesday after falling from a "homemade" trailer being used to move furniture in DeKalb County, police said.
DeKalb Police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said the man, whom police have not identified, was injured when he fell from the trailer into the street on River Road at Bouldercrest, and furniture that was being moved fell on top of him.
He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police initially said the man had been hit by a school bus. Parish said the man fell into oncoming traffic. "The bus was in that oncoming lane and initially it was thought the bus struck the victim," she said. "After further investigation this turned out not to be the case. "
