A man whom police say ran a red light, killing a woman at an intersection in Cobb County, has been charged with homicide by vehicle.

Alberto Jose Abreus of Kennesaw was driving a 1996 Infiniti G20 at the intersection of Barrett Parkway and Roberts Boulevard in Kennesaw on Wednesday when his car slammed into the driver's side door of a 2006 Toyota Solara, according to police.

Police said Chassity Hollaman, 20, of Marietta, had the green light. She died two days later at WellStar Kennestone Hospital.

Abreus was charged Monday with homicide by vehicle in the second degree, a misdemeanor; and with disregarding a traffic control device.
