A 70-year-old Newnan man is facing charges after he allegedly brandished a gun in a hospital emergency room.

Russell Kingston Jr. was arrested Monday and charged with pointing a weapon at another after waving the weapon in the Piedmont Newnan Hospital emergency room, the Newnan Times-Herald reported.

Kingston collapsed in the hospital parking lot early Monday afternoon and was brought into the emergency room by hospital personnel.

As they checked him out, they noticed that Kington had a gun, the newspaper reported.

"About that time he [Kingston] grabbed the gun, started waving it around and pointed it at them," Newnan Police Chief Buster Meadows told the Times-Herald. "They just got out of the room."

Responding officers took Kingston's gun, and no shots were fired.
