Atlanta police are searching for a man wearing an Atlanta Braves baseball cap who tried to rob a downtown bank.

The attempted robbery occurred about 10 a.m. April 19 at the First Landmark Bank on 754 Peachtree Street.

According to Atlanta police, the man tried to hand the teller a note and a money bag.

The man ultimately left the bank when the teller repeatedly refused to take the items, police said. Surveillance video showed the man walk away after the teller’s refusal.

The suspect was last seen wearing the Braves cap, a dark green jacket and dark jeans.

Another failed bank robbery occurred the same day when a different man tried to rob a Chase Bank on Cheshire Bridge Road.

The man walked inside the bank on April 19 and handed the teller a withdrawal slip that read: “I’m sorry but I’m desperate. $200. I’m gone,” according to an Atlanta police incident report.

Following protocol, the teller walked away to inform his manager, but when he returned the man was gone, according to the report.

Anyone with information about the alleged crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477 or online at www.stopcrimeatl.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous and be eligible for a $2,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the suspect.
