A 34-year-old man has been arrested for running a dental practice without a license in a north Sandy Springs apartment.

After receiving a tip, police sent an undercover officer to the apartment, which had been converted to a waiting room and exam room. When the "dentist" agreed to fix a cavity for $100, he was placed under arrest, police said.

Omar Mohamad Abou Ghaouche, of Kennesaw, was arrested Tuesday at an apartment in the 1200 block of Huntcliff Village Court, according to Lt. Steve Rose with Sandy Springs police.

Ghaouche has been charged with practicing dentistry without a license and the recovery of dental equipment and dangerous narcotic drugs, according to Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp.

Ghaouche has never been licensed in Georgia to practice dentistry, according to the secretary of state's office. He was given a "cease and desist" order, which he signed. Ghaouche was then booked into the Fulton County jail. A court date is pending.

“The allegations in this case are very troubling, and an obvious threat to the Sandy Springs community and public health,” Kemp said.

The Georgia Drugs and Narcotics Agency assisted with the investigation.
