Police say a Stone Mountain man found with a crowbar and a cash register may be tied to a string of burglaries.

A Gwinnett County police officer arrested Charles Olin Bradford, 20, Thursday while checking on a suspicious vehicle.

Bradford smashed the windows of a Lawrenceville Highway auto parts store on Thursday and then took a cash register, Gwinnett Police spokesman Cpl. David Schiralli said. Surveillance video showed Bradford fleeing in his SUV.

Shortly later, a Gwinnett officer spotted an SUV that matched the description from the burglary. As the officer approached the SUV, he saw a man duck down to hide, police said.

The officer detained the man, later identified as Bradford.

Police searched the SUV and found the crowbar, cash register and a handgun, police said.

Police later linked Bradford to two other burglaries. Detectives are still investigating and say additional charges may be filed.

Bradford is being held without bond in the Gwinnett County jail on three counts of burglary.
