A meter installation man was arrested in Duluth after his attempt to haze a new employee bombed.

A woman who was staying at the LaQuinta Inn on Stephens Center called police around 11 p.m. on Aug. 20 to report that a device that looked like a bomb had been placed on the door of one of the rooms.

Shortly after bomb disposal officers arrived at the scene, a minivan pulled up. The driver, Frank Hurley, 52, of Colony Benton, Ga., reportedly told police he made a phony bomb out of his work equipment. He planted it on a fellow employee’s door because “this is how he plays tricks on the new guys,” a police report stated.

Gwinnett County police used the bomb robot to clear the area and make certain it was safe. Hurley charged with manufacturing a hoax device and DUI.
