When deputies arrived at the home, they found Fox at the kitchen table clutching a bandage to his stomach, the incident report states.
"The offender stated the victim had licked the side of this face and had pushed him down a hill," the report states.
Gold, 31, told police that Fox, 38, was choking him, so he grabbed a knife and stabbed him, according to police.
Fox, who lives in California, was taken to a hospital, where he underwent surgery. Gold, who lives in Connecticut, was arrested and taken to jail, charged with aggravated assault, police said.
In a court hearing Friday, a deputy said witnesses gave different accounts of what happened prior to the stabbing, the Gainesville Times reported.
According to court testimony, Gold stepped in during a confrontation between Fox and Tim Watters, a Bill Clinton impersonator represented by Gold, the newspaper reported.
Gold's attorney said his client was acting in self defense, according to the report.
The case is pending in Hall County court.
