The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to approve the concept plan for Mableton Town Square.
Walker Drive will be extended from Old Floyd Road to Church Street to create the town square near the entrance to Mableton Elementary School.
Then part of Walker Drive will be renamed Mableton Town Square.
For $431,350, Pond and Company has developed the landscape plans, consisting of a 10-foot-wide outer sidewalk, an inner walking path and a great lawn of a half acre.
The plan will preserve two areas with large trees and include new canopy trees behind the sidewalk.
Blooming understory trees will be planted within the square and along the roadside.
