A 17-year-old Locust Grove High School student was killed late Wednesday afternoon when his car collided with oncoming traffic, Henry County Police said.

About 5:15 p.m., Shemiayah White was northbound on Hwy. 42, near Roberts Road in Locust Grove, when he lost control of his Toyota Camry. The car went off the road and White over-corrected, causing the Camry to veer into oncoming traffic, police said. The Camry struck a southbound Ford F350.

White was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, another 17-year-old boy, was taken to Atlanta Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

None of the five people in the Ford F350 were injured.
