Several dozen parcels of property in Henry County could be annexed into Locust Grove via a March referendum, after the Henry County Board of Commissioners gave its OK at the Nov. 3 regular meeting.
An area along Highway 42 near the southeast end of Locust Grove, between Locust Road and Locust Grove-Griffin Road, currently forms a peninsula that comes close to being an unincorporated island, according to a county official.
All residents in the affected area would vote March 1 in a referendum once the city passes a resolution and meets requirements regarding public notice and public meetings. The city has given no notice of any land use or zoning changes in the affected properties, most of which have already been developed and are in use.
