Local performers needed at East Point’s ‘Wednesday Wind Down’

The city of East Point is seeking local artists to perform at the city’s latest entertainment showcase known as “Wednesday Wind Down In the Point,” according to a press release. The kick-off event is 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 23 in the Downtown Commons, located at 2757 East Point Street.

Two local artists will be selected to open for national R&B recording artist Angie Stone on May 23.

Performers will also be given the opportunity to perform at subsequent dates for the event on June 27, July 25 and August 22. “Wednesday Wind Down In The Point” is free and open to the public.

Interested solo artists or groups should submit a three to five minute (video or MP3) to Shannon Wiggins, East Point’s Public Information Officer at swiggins@eastpointcity.org. The deadline to submit entries is 5 p.m. Monday, April 30. A selection committee will determine the winners, who will be notified by Friday, May 4. Announcements of other performances and special guest appearances are forthcoming.
