Local group named finalists for education awards

The IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Atlanta Women in Engineering was named a finalist in the first annual STEM Education Awards. The group, which works to recruit and retain women in technical career fields, was recognized for their work with Ivy Prep Academy, a charter school in Gwinnett County. The winner will be announced on Sept. 14.
