Lime is holding a free electric scooter training class 5:30-6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25 at the Decatur Recreation Center, 231 Sycamore St. To attend you have to register at georgia@li.me.
The San Francisco-based company rents e-scooters and electric bicycles in cities across the world, and is the only scooter company currently operating in Decatur. The city recently passed an e-scooter ordinance, the fourth city in Georgia to do so.
The first 15 minutes of the session includes a helmet fitting, with the company distributing free helmets to all attendees. It also includes instruction on how the app works, how the scooter is activated and driven and the regulations in Decatur’s ordinance.
In the second 15 minutes participants get a free, supervised ride.
Lime gives regular monthly classes at the Decatur Rec, although days vary from month to month depending on gym availability. The company also gives monthly classes on the Westside Beltline Trail, meeting up at Gordon White Park, 1350 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd SW, Atlanta.
