The Georgia Department of Revenue allows for drive-thru or service windows to be at alcohol package store locations. At least one package store owner in Lilburn has made the request to install a drive-thru window at their location.

If approved, a proposed new ordinance will require licensed retail dealers who sell distilled spirits or packaged malt beverages to comply with applicable building codes and the city’s overlay district and for the window to be covered by a canopy or roof structure. Drive-thru or service windows would need to be well lighted and clearly visible from a street or sidewalk.

At the city’s most recent council meeting the mayor and council decided to table the proposed ordinance for a future date.
