In Dec., the Lilburn City Council passed a moratorium on new permits, or applications for permits, for wireless communications devices and facilities in the city’s right of way. At the city’s most recent council meeting, Lilburn approved a Small Cell Ordinance establishing requirements, specifications, and reasonable conditions regarding the placement of small wireless facilities.

Lilburn’s previous regulations were adopted when communications devices and facilities were primarily limited to antennas mounted on cell towers. Now a variety of alternative technologies such as distributed antenna system networks and other small cell systems can be installed on much smaller structures.

Adoption of the new ordinance ends the moratorium barring the issuance of permits for wireless communication devices.
