Following a public hearing at Monday night’s city council meeting, Lilburn voted 4-0 to approve a 20,000-square-foot package store at the entrance to the former Lowe’s in Lilburn. The $3-million building on a 1.6-acre parcel at 735 Pleasant Hill Road near the intersection with Ronald Reagan Parkway will have four-sided brick, stone, and stucco.
In addition, and following another opportunity for public input, the council unanimously approved a 10,500 square-foot package store on 4 acres on U.S. 29/Lawrenceville Highway, just west of the Harmony Grove intersection. The applicant calls the store a ‘destination package store’ with an extensive wine collection and high-end fixtures and finishes.
City ordinances allow for one package store per 2,000 people. Because Lilburn has about 13,000 residents, approval of the two stores on Monday caps out the city at six stores.
