The Kennesaw City Council set the qualifying fee and dates for the post once held by Leonard Church.
The former mayor had to surrender his council seat immediately when he admitted in December to molesting a boy in 2014 and possessing hundreds of child pornography images.
Church, 67, was sentenced to 40 years in prison with 18 years to serve instead of life in prison plus 100 years if he had been convicted of the original charges of aggravated child molestation and four counts of sexual exploitation.
The qualifying fee is $360, which is three percent of the gross salary at $12,000.
Qualifying days for the May 24 election will be 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 8 and 9, closed for lunch from noon to 1 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. March 10 at Kennesaw City Hall, 2529 J.O. Stephenson Ave.
