The city of Kennesaw is putting the final touches on its annual celebration of the holiday season.
A Day with Santa kicks off at 2 p.m. Dec. 7 with a parade featuring decorated floats, vintage cars, marching bands and costumed characters.
The city’s parade route begins at Adams Park. It will turn left on Watts Drive, left on Main Street and left on to Park Drive to go back to the park.
Kennesaw’s event continues from 3-7 p.m. at Depot Park on Main Street with holiday-related activities. Youngsters will be able to enjoy free snow tubing, inflatables, visits with Santa and crafts. You’ll also be able to squeeze in some Christmas shopping with the holiday market featuring gift ideas and merchandise. Saturday’s event culminates with the city’s Christmas tree lighting at 6 p.m.
To accommodate the parade, Kennesaw will close the following roads Saturday:
•Main Street between Park Drive and Watts Drive from 1:45 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.
•Main Street at Park Drive, Lewis Street, Dallas Street, Whitfield Place, Moon Station Road, J.O. Stephenson Avenue and Watts Drive from 1:45 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.
•Watts Drive just west of the new parking lot entrance and Dallas Street at Watts Drive at 1:45 p.m. for about 30 minutes.
•Main Street between Summers Street and Watts Drive from noon to 10 p.m.
