A day after a fake 911 call reporting a stabbing at Marietta Middle School, two juveniles have been charged with being behind the hoax.
Detectives have charged two juveniles with misuse of 911 and disruption of public school for the bogus phone threat that was placed to the Cobb 911 Call Center.
The hoax resulted in a lockdown of the middle school just after 1:30 p.m. Monday, according to the Marietta police.
On Tuesday, Marietta Police spokesman David Baldwin said a student who was reported to have a knife has been cleared. The student did not have a knife and was not associated with the call, Baldwin said.
Police searched the school during the lockdown on Monday and came up empty-handed.
“All students and faculty are safe and secure,” the Marietta police said just after 1:30 p.m. Monday. “Detectives are continuing the investigation into the call.”
In an earlier bulletin, police said officers “found NO students injured or stabbed and the call appears to be false.”
Detectives ask anyone with information to contact the Marietta City School’s public information officer.
