A local attorney who could not arrange child care for her newborn – she’d asked the court for a continuance and was turned down – decided to strap the baby to her chest and take her to court.

“I had no idea what I was walking into; I was hoping she wouldn’t cry,” attorney Stacy Ehrisman-Mickle said. “I was praying I’d walk out unscathed.”

But the baby started crying as Ehrisman-Mickle walked to the bench and the judge put his head in his hands and got noticeably angry.

“He questioned my mothering skills and said your pediatrician must be appalled because I’m exposing her to all these germs in the court,” the lawyer said.
