Johns Creek's parks bond and a Fulton County TSPLOST referendum will appear on the Nov. 8 ballot.

If approved, the city would receive over five years $40 million for various park projects and $82 million for infrastructure projects.

The Johns Creek City Council will discuss at an upcoming meeting a pair of November ballot initiatives that could decide the future of several park and infrastructure projects.

The city's parks bond referendum and local transportation tax will appear on the Nov. 8 ballot, and residents are invited to attend its Thursday meeting to learn about both measures.

The Georgia legislature passed Senate Bill 369 earlier this year authorizing counties to consider a local tax to fund transportation projects. The ballot will ask Fulton County voters — the measure doesn't include the city of Atlanta — to approve a 75-cent sales tax for transportation purposes.

State revenue officials estimate the sales tax would generate $569 million over five years. If approved by Fulton County voters, Johns Creek could collect $82 million in TSPLOST funds during that period. The projects range from sidewalk additions to road widening.

A yes for the city’s park bond referendum means $40 million in bonds for 13 construction projects. Construction on those projects could start as early as mid-2017.

The City Council will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. at City Hall on Findley Road.
