Expect periodic traffic delays in coming months as the Georgia Department of Transportation embarks on a project to widen Old Alabama Road from Buice Road to Ga. 141/Medlock Bridge Road in Johns Creek.

Several lane closures and traffic shifts are expected for the first stage of the project including: westbound traffic on Old Alabama Road shifting from Medlock Bridge Road to Buice Road, one eastbound lane closing on Old Alabama from Buice Road to Medlock Bridge Road, one left-turn lane from Old Alabama onto Medlock Bridge shutting down, and the right-turn lane from Old Alabama to Buice Road closing.

Message boards will be up to help drivers navigate the roadwork, which will also add a left-turn lane from Medlock Bridge to Old Alabama.

The $3.9 million project is set to be done by the end of 2016.
