Warren Hutmacher is out as city manager in Johns Creek, and the City Council has appointed Police Chief Ed Densmore acting city manager.
The city announced without explanation Monday a “separation agreement” with Hutmacher, city manager since 2014.
Before coming to work for Johns Creek, Hutmacher had served as city manager in Dunwoody, Norcross and Avondale Estates; assistant city manager and deputy city clerk in Marietta; and with the Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget.
Densmore has been Johns Creek police chief since the department’s founding in 2008. Before that, he was police chief of Alpharetta, rising through the ranks since 1996. He began his law enforcement career in 1992 as a Decatur patrol officer.
“Chief Densmore is an exceptionally talented and experienced leader, and I am certain he will prove himself to be a valuable asset in his role as acting city manager,” Mayor Mike Bodker said. “We are grateful for Warren’s time serving the residents and businesses of Johns Creek, and we wish him success in his future career endeavors.”
