The Johns Creek City Council has approved design concepts for five new parks, and now it’s up to voters to decide Nov. 8 on issuing up to $40 million in parks bonds to pay for these and other green space initiatives.
The proposed parks are the Cauley Creek Park, on the Chattahoochee River south of Bell Road; Technology Park Linear Park, along Medlock Bridge Road between Johns Creek Parkway and East Johns Crossing; and three “pocket parks”: Bell/Boles, at the intersection of its two namesake streets; Morton Road, on Morton east of State Bridge Road; and State Bridge Road, on State Bridge south of Camberbridge Drive.
City staff had worked with three design firms and solicited public feedback through online forums and two public meetings, officials said.
“Although the design concepts have been approved, the public is invited to continue to provide input on the design of the parks as there are still opportunities to make design modifications until the final funding mechanism is approved and the City Council is ready to move forward with construction,” according to a city news release.
