The Johns Creek City Council has given priority to four road projects to be funded by transportation special purpose local option sales tax approved by voters last November.
The council approved engineering and concept design funding for the widening of McGinnis Ferry Road from Union Hill to Sargent roads, a joint project already under way with Forsyth County, Alpharetta and Milton. And the widening of State Bridge Road from Medlock Bridge Road to the Chattahoochee River, aligning with a similar project by Gwinnett County.
Also, intersection improvements for Barnwell Road at Holcomb Bridge Road; and operational and safety improvements to the Bell Road/Boles Road Corridor, maintaining the roadway’s two travel lanes.
The city’s TSPLOST “Tier 1” project list contains 10 projects, which will require staged implementation based on available funding, according to a staff report to council. Johns Creek is expected to receive $82 million for local transportation projects over the five-year lifespan of the 0.75 percent special sales tax.
