Johns Creek has hired a Gwinnett County official to be its new community development director.

Ben Song has been director of the real estate and records management division for Gwinnett, according to a Johns Creek announcement. He also has served as community development director in Brookhaven.

Song has had supervisory roles overseeing land use, zoning and real estate in Gwinnett, Brookhaven and Peachtree Corners. Before that, Song was a Planner III in Johns Creek.

“Ben’s familiarity with the city of Johns Creek coupled with his decade-plus experience across other cities and counties make him a fit for Johns Creek and the needs of our community,” said Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker.

Song began his career in 2007 in Gwinnett’s Department of Planning and Development. He has a bachelor’s degree in sociology and public planning from the University of Toronto, and a master’s degree in planning and economic development from Georgia State University.
