The Johns Creek City Council has approved contracts to extend the Brumbelow Road Trail from Mackinac to Stoney Ridge drives.

A $960,023 construction contract for the sidewalk trail was awarded to CMES Inc., and a $35,990 construction engineering inspection services contract to SEI.

“Although there are sidewalks on Brumbelow Road most of the way from Nesbit Ferry Road to Old Alabama and Newtown Park, there is a significant gap in connectivity where the road crosses a narrow bridge that prevents pedestrians from traveling safely on this corridor,” City Manager Warren Hutmacher said in a report to the council.

Bid specifications for the construction contract call for a 10-foot-wide trail, finished per Johns Creek ordinances and regulations and Georgia Department of Transportation standards, and substantially completed 120 calendar days after the notice to proceed. The project includes the Gator Bridge, a 60-foot-long pedestrian bridge.
